Partial Vs Complete

There are two primary ways an inground swimming pool can be removed: partial pool removal and complete pool removal.

Both methods eliminate the swimming pool and allow the area to be filled, graded and returned to usable yard space. The main difference is what happens to the existing pool structure during demolition.

PARTIAL POOL REMOVAL

FINAL GRADE & CLEANUP

Partial Pool Removal

Partial removal is the method chosen by approximately 85% of our customers.

During a partial pool removal, the swimming pool is drained and portions of the pool shell are broken apart. The concrete or gunite is then broken up and collapsed into the existing pool cavity.

Once the demolition portion is complete, the remaining cavity is filled with fill dirt. The material is compacted as the pool is filled, and the area is then graded and leveled with the surrounding yard.

Depending on the size of the pool, backyard access and other site conditions, a partial pool removal can take as little as three days to complete.

Partial pool removal is allowed by the majority of municipalities we work in throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Requirements can vary by city, so the applicable local requirements are determined before the project begins.

Complete Pool Removal

A complete pool removal involves excavating and removing the entire swimming pool structure from the ground.

Instead of breaking up the pool shell and leaving the demolition material inside the existing cavity, the concrete, gunite and other pool debris are excavated. The material is loaded into trucks and hauled away from the property.

Once the pool structure and demolition debris have been removed, the empty cavity is filled with fill dirt. The fill is compacted and the property is graded and leveled in much the same way as a partial removal.

Because considerably more material must be excavated, loaded and hauled away, complete pool removal typically adds several days to the project.

It also requires additional equipment, trucking, disposal and labor. As a result, a complete removal will generally add a minimum of several thousand dollars to the cost of the project compared with a partial removal.

Two Different Pool Removal Methods

The basic distinction between the two methods is simple.

With a partial pool removal, the pool shell is broken apart and portions of the demolition material remain within the former pool cavity before it is filled.

With a complete pool removal, the entire pool structure and demolition debris are excavated and hauled away before the cavity is filled.

Metroplex Pool Removal provides both partial and complete swimming pool removal throughout the DFW Metroplex.
